Director, Governance & Compliance SME, Mastercard Europe Technology
Key Accountabilities
- Act as the primary regulatory TECH SME for compliance with all current TECH oversight requirements in the region.
- Serve as a point of contact for all TECH-related regulatory requests, including regular central bank engagements, addressing regulatory findings, and supporting self-assessments.
- Maintain oversight of the external regulatory landscape and assess potential impacts on TECH.
- Provide governance support for MCE Technology, ensuring policies and procedures are reviewed in line with regulatory requirements.
- Support the MCE Governance Requirements Owner for MCE – MCT (Mastercard Technologies) and assist in bi-annual service reviews with MCT.
- Monitor and coordinate the reporting of all operational incidents reaching regulatory thresholds in the region, in partnership with Regulatory Affairs.
- Collaborate with peers in other regions to share best practices and enhance the global incident management process.
- Support both the 1LOD (Technology Risk Management) and 2LOD (Risk Management) with the identification and monitoring of MCE operational risks.
- Maintain oversight of program resiliency enhancements impacting the region.
- Coordinate all MCE TECH deliverables to key stakeholders, including the QEBR with the Regional President.
- Work closely with MCE TECH Division Leads to support customer escalations and operational resilience requirements.
- Provide leadership, direction, and development to junior team members.
- Promote a strong compliance and governance culture.
Qualifications and Experience
- Knowledge of the European regulatory landscape impacting payments (essential).
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of 5-8 years of training and experience (desirable).
- Good understanding of the Mastercard network and core transactional programs.

- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Collaborative approach, building trust and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of the external environment.
